In the Kaliningrad Amber Museum an exhibition "Travel of grandma's frame bag" opens on 8 November at 17.00. It presents accessories of man's and woman's toilet of the late 19th - early 20th centuries from the collection of Marina Sedova (Saint Petersburg).
The exposition introduces items, which were used by ladies and gentlemen of the past epoch. Some of them have lost their topicality and almost gone out of use. Every such thing can tell to an attentive viewer a lot about habits, social status and even strains of its owner, as well as about fashion trends of that time. Observing of a woman's frame bag is the cause for a short story that would uncover a secret of its owner. Here is an elegant fan - witness of an unexpected and joyful meeting.
A compact mirror - gift of the former admirer.
Ivory hair pick reminds of travel abroad.
Notebook, small scent bottle, lipstick, cambric handkerchief...things dear to their owner.
Bag as a necessary toilet accessory has been existed for a very long time. Its form has been changing, its material, but thepurpose has been always the same. Up to now we keep and carry many needed things in our bags, gripsacks, knapsacks. And each of them can be decorated with amber, which would make any thing even more original and beautiful.
