Since the ancient times, amber has attracted people with its astonishing beauty and mysterious properties. For the first time, "fashion" on this stone emerged in the Neolithic Age, about 6000 years ago. Back then, inhabitants of the Baltic coast made of it amulets, as well as beads and pendants, rings and tabs. In Rus of the Middle Ages, songs, tales and spells were composed, in which "the miraculous alatyr stone" was called "father of all stones". We offer contestants to show in their drawings, paintings or works of decorative and applied art the magic that ancient people saw in amber.

This year, there is a new category – "Sunny Mosaic". This summer the exhibition from Saint Petersburg "Masterpieces of the gallery "Amber House" was opened in our museum, where the world biggest amber picture is shown – the panel "Rus" created by Saint Petersburg artist Alexander Zhuravlyov, there are also other works made in the technique of mosaic. It is a traditional technique which has been used since ancient times. Treating, colour matching the stones, artists created the whole pictures. We are offering children to make mosaic works using any materials they like to work with the most.
