"Magic of Amber 2022"
The Amber Museum announces acceptance of works for the 12th contest of children's and youth drawings and paintings "Magic of Amber".
Since the ancient times, amber attracted people with its amazing beauty and mysterious qualities. First time we can speak of "fashion" for this stone in the Neolithic Age, nearly 6000 years ago. Then, people that inhabited the Baltic Sea coast produced amulets from it, as well as beads and pendants, rings and sewed-on pieces. In Russ in the middle ages, songs, tales and witch-mongers were made where the "miraculous alatyr stone" was called as "father of all stones". They said that the great power was in it that averted any misfortune and brought happiness to a good person.
Today, the beauty of the sunstone is the source of inspiration for artists, poets, and writers.
We offer to participants of the contest to reflect warmth and light of the Baltic gem, as well as the magic, that ancient people saw in amber, in their drawings and paintings. Authors of the best and original works will receive prizes and presents. Some works will be selected for the Collection of Children's Drawings and Paintings in the Amber Museum.
Works should be submitted to the museum until 20 January 2022. You can admire your works in the Amber Museum from 27 January to 6 February. You can ask questions on the phone 8 (4012) 53-82-19 or send to the e-mail prosvet@ambermuseum.ru.
