In memory of Vitalii Ertsev
Within the present virtual exhibition, objects and materials are shown , that reflect the artistry by Vitalii Ertsev – lapidary artist who was in charge of a working group of masters at the Combine of Decorative and Applied Arts of Leningrad Department of RSFSR Art Collection in 1978–1985. Within the programme of completing the Amber Museum opened in Kaliningrad in 1979 with decent artworks, the group worked on restoration of historical objects given by the Moscow Kremlin Armoury, copying and repetition of works by German artists and Polish masters from the 16th–18th centuries from collections of Russian museums, as well as reconstruction of lost items from the Königsberg collection based on survived photographs.
Merit of Vitalii Ertsev is not only execution of amber items and their restoration, but also creation of the method of artistic amber treatment based on research of artworks made by masters of the part and historical sources.
Around thirty objects from the collection of Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum are connected with the name of Vetalii Ertsev, most of them currently can be seen in the permanent exhibition.
