ARISA LEVINA

Was born in 1959 in St Petersburg. In 1983 she graduated from Music College of Kaliningrad, Graphic Design Department. Since 2001 she has been a member of the Russian Artists’ Union and the International Artists’ Federation.

She creates her asymmetrical compositions intuitively working at processing amber as marginally as possible while expressing an image that she has seen in the shape of amber. «I reluctantly take from the gem too much in order to retain its beauty as a whole». The artist aims to hold on to the maximum original characteristics of every piece bewitchingly tracing the secret images hidden in the pure lump. Sometimes in such ‘opened gems’ miraculous worlds are revealed. These are complete compositions created by Nature itself. «I will never detract from a landscape gem. It is a shame to carve it», - thinks L. Levina.
